Meet Mrs. Fox I was born in New Jersey and lived there most of my life. I moved to NC 12 years ago. I have four children, 3 sons and a daughter. My 3 sons are chefs! They cook amazing meals, so holidays at my house are always delicious. I have a daughter who is a sophomore in HS. Her passion is dance. She is part of the competition team at our local dance studio. I had been teaching for 12 years at the same school in High Point and recently made the change to TMSA! I'm Montessori certified. This means I incorporate the Montessori philosophy in my everyday teaching. Grace, courtesy and peace are frequently used words in my classroom. The environment is purposely prepared in a manner that invites children to learn. This "prepared environment" empowers children to take control of their own learning and behavior, thereby becoming independent, self-directed learners.
Upon entering my classroom, the beauty of plants along with inviting materials exude a "sense of order" imperative to the Montessori method. I feel the classroom is an extension of the home, therefore the classroom is a place where children not only learn social skills and how to live together with harmony, but academic skills as well. Children are treated with respect and are given choices in activities. In return, they behave with dignity and self respect.
Children learn through experimentation and exploration with hands on materials, as well as whole group, teacher directed lessons. Many field trips are taken during the year so that children may see, feel, hear, and smell the "real things" they have been talking about in the classroom. Children schooled in this manner learn about the "whole world" in which they live. Welcome to 3rd grade, where we will build an amazing learning community where responsibility and accountability are our buzz words!
